recent photo projects: March update

Do you remember how I shared some of my recent photography projects last month? I'm sharing an update today with the process that I've made the past few weeks.

Framing
I finally got the Dominican print ordered and framed. It was great to cross that project off my list.

My newest 11x14 prints turned out beautifully. I cannot tell you how awesome it is to see my work in these largest formats.

I rearranged a few things to put those 11x14s in the dining room. I haven't shown off any of my cross-stitch pieces here in months so I thought people would enjoy seeing them, too. Of course I had a little helper following me around while I was taking pictures.

It was so hard figuring out what I wanted to put in my newest 10 8x10 frames, but I eventually settled on 6 of my black and white kitten photos and 4 of my Chicago pictures. These frames are all filling out some of the wall space in our finished basement.

While I was getting all of this hanging done, I finally found the motivation to hang up the final pieces that we moved to Milwaukee with us and have never hung up. Yep, we moved here almost two years ago.

Coasters

I started three coaster sets last month. One set I already made into coasters and will almost definitely keep because one of them has a pretty noticeable flaw (although it's still completely functional). I'm making another set into coasters to give as a wedding gift for one of Jake's co-workers next month. I'm making the third set into wall hangings. I'm really excited about the hangings. This is a new project for me.

Clothespin Display

I'm pretty excited about how this came together. The neatest thing about it is that we can switch it up whenever we want. I am so ready for the snow to melt so I can get out and take some new spring photos to put up here. You'll notice in the final photo that I'm going to fill out the back of it, too. It looks kind of weird completely blank from the back in the dining room.

I will most likely add holiday items sometimes, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's also really easy to take the whole thing down and put up a new garland if we want to switch up the whole display for something else once in a while. If nothing else, I made a leaf garland in 2012 that I'd like to string up again next year.

What's up next?
Once I get the current coasters finished, my next big photo project is going to be getting some new product photography shots taken (or cropped...I have a few already taken), printed, and laminated for my craft fair banner.

How have your photography projects been going lately?

  1. You've certainly been busy around the house! The photographs in the black frames look great and the photo-banner is a cute idea! Looks like my new studio-project is going to take longer than expected.

  2. Funny I should come to this post today of all days! I was standing in my sewing room today looking at the couple of snapshots that are hanging in the narrow space above my sewing table/desk and was thinking how UNCREATIVE it was for MY sewing room! Taped to the wall! I was actually thinking of getting some twine and clothes pins (I'll decorate of course) and hang them like that. Now that I see yours, I'm putting it on the top of my to do list!

I'll be having my fist grandbaby soon (haven't officially announced it yet on my blog) and I want to see the cute little face while I'm working at my desk or sewing. And yes, I already know it will be cute!

  5. I've only been out once to take photos. Oh well. I'm thinking of getting a watercolor or sketch pad so I can go outside and do some sketching. That's a new goal, if I can remember. Your garland is so cute - good idea of back to back. Do you print your own photos with your own printer? {:-D

  6. Love your little helper! :) I always believed that our house is a reflection of us and where we should always feel most comfortable. I can imagine that by seeing your own favorite photos on the walls and having three sweet furbabies around, your house feels like your surrounded by love!

  8. I really love the idea of the hanging coasters...brilliant! And now I'm trying to think of a place in our home where I can put up one of those clothes pin displays! You could always mount the photos on patterned paper so they're double sided, then mix and match which direction you hang the photos.

Kitty looks so happy supervising =)

  10. Coasters-as-wall hangings! Rose, that's brilliant. You just gave me a great idea for a souvenir I got in Arizona but still haven't done anything with.

  12. Everything looks so nice! I am planning on redoing my shop photos next month. I will be house sitting again, and have two goals, quilt a couple of quilts that are waiting in my to do box, and retake photos during the two weeks that we will be there! Hoping for some sunshine!
