Saturday is Caturday

Are you ready to start your weekend with another amazing round of cat photos?

Still getting enjoyment out of the Ann Taylor Loft bag. Amazing.

One of the best parts of every week is washing the bedding and remaking the bed. Recently I made a pillow fort for Apollo during that activity. Needless to say, it was a big hit.

One of the many places that Ares loves to hang out.

How can you not love that tail?

An ever popular Apollo hang out spot.

Ares being my pillow on the top of the couch.

Watching a birdie channel on YouTube.

Apollo used to get excited about TV all the time, but I'm not sure that Ares had ever been this excited about it.

During a cooler day this month, we opened the windows in our green bedroom for the first time ever.

It completely renewed their interest in the water bed.

Recently Apollo had a little adventure in which he jumped up to the open washer, didn't calculate for the fact that it was open, and fell right in, thankfully on a pile of clothes. I didn't get a picture of him in the washer, but I got this picture of him leaping off.

Helping us get ready for a short trip to Madison.

So helpful.

What have your cats been up to lately?

O is for Other People

Are you ready for another round of Alphabe Thursday? Let's go!

Even a couple years ago, I never would have imagined that I'd enjoy taking pictures of what I've started to refer to as "other people" so much. There are a lot of occasions where I'm out taking pictures by myself or with a friend and simply enjoy documenting some of the people I see during the experience. There are other occasions where I'm with a group of family members and/or friends, and it can be more fun to take pictures of people I don't know than bother the people I do know by taking their pictures constantly.

I think that this type of picture taking also appeals to the writer in me. I've never made up a story based on random people that I photographed (and probably won't any time soon), but I still like to think about the stories that I could tell about them.

August Color Combination Inspiration, Round 2

I have another great round of color combinations to share with you today. I hope that you're able to find something here that sparks a new idea of some sort for your creative endeavors. As always, I've done my best to mix up the subjects that I feature. You can pull color combinations from any source for literally any type of creative project. Click on the photos to visit the original sources. Enjoy!

I got a short list of suggestions for this round so I found two examples for each combination.

Raspberry / Lemon Yellow from Judy

Peridot / Purple from Sharla

Gold / Maroon from Edi

Let's Keep It Going!
What color combinations are you loving right now? Have you experimented with any new color combinations recently?

Getting Ready for Fall

Many of you already know that my brother is getting married this fall. As soon as I knew that I was going to be in the wedding party (and before we'd ever talked about things like shoes, jewelry, etc.), I started thinking about possibilities for jewelry. I find it really funny when I meet people who make jewelry and don't actually wear a lot of jewelry themselves. Isn't half of the fun of having jewelry making skills using them to make customized pieces for yourself? Anyway, aside from my recent Renaissance Fair piece, I haven't made jewelry for myself for an event in years. It's way past time.

I don't work with a lot of Swarovski beads, largely because they're expensive, and I would rather purchase larger quantities of more affordable beads. But for some reason, I was really called to them for this piece. They're available in a wide range of colors, including lovely fall shades. So I went ahead and ordered a batch.

I'm planning to make a triple wrap bracelet, kind of along the style of the very popular leather wrapped bracelets but beaded. The colors for the wedding are red and dark blue, so I will most likely figure out a way to work a hint of blue into this piece. I obviously haven't worked out all of the specifics yet, but that's okay. I'm excited to get going on it this next month.

photo share: local band

Last week I cheated again and edited a newer set of RAW photos, largely because I wanted to post some of them here sooner rather than later. I could have just edited a handful of them, but I edited the whole set. Many of you have already heard me talk about one of my favorite bands, I'm Not a Pilot, over and over again the past 8 months. Jake and I got to hear them live a number of times this summer, and I took photos at several of these concerts. One of the most interesting aspects of these shows has been the audiences. I've been really surprised at the variety. This particular concert was swarming with kids and young parents. If you're curious about how I got so close to all of these kids I don't know, there were literally dozens of them running around everywhere for the whole hour and a half of music. Enjoy.

Have you been going to any concerts this summer?
