photo share: Mitchell Park Domes Conservatory

Right before I went to Vegas last month, I went to the Michell Park Domes. I still have some winter pictures to edit, but I know that we all need to see some green this time of year. Enjoy.

Check out pictures from previous Mitchell Park Domes excursions here and here.

Saturday is Caturday

Are you ready to start your weekend with an amazing round up of cat photos?

 Best brother buddies.

Ares sleeping with his head on the floor. Priceless.

One of the kitties appearing to enjoy one of the final episodes of Breaking Bad a lot more than I enjoyed it.

Angel has embraced the cone scratcher recently. She'll even use it sometimes, which is pretty cool. That's about as active as Angel ever gets.

It's hard to tell who works harder around here. And no, Jake was not actually sleeping. Apollo wanted a lot of snuggles, and Jake thought that it would make a funny picture.

Of course, it's hard to tell who works harder around here during the day, too.  And yes, that is a back paw next to my hand.

Some late night bathing turned into some late night sleeping while sitting up. Another priceless Ares moment.

The backyard birdie channel.

Styrofoam is another popular kitty item around here.

A rare moment where Ares decided to be super friendly with Angel.

It's even more rare to get all three kitties in a single shot.

Poor Apollo is still getting over his skin thing. The vet thinks that it was some sort of allergic reaction.

The ever popular laundry baskets.

Finally, for those of you who did not see this on Facebook already, Jake and I made a little video of Ares earlier this month.

What have you cats been up to lately?

S is for S Toy

Are you ready for another round of Alphabe Thursday? Let's go!

As it's my birthday today, an S toy post with my little guys seemed like a fitting theme because what makes me happier than seeing them have this much fun with a $20 toy from Target? We actually own two of them now, and it's been some of the best money that we've spent in the past year. Hopefully seeing them have so much fun makes you a little happier today, too. Enjoy.

Check out what the other Alphabe participants posted for the letter S this week right here!

photo outtakes

Welcome to another round up of photo outtakes! I think that it's really important to discuss the fact that I take a ton of photos to get a few gems. Also, while I keep improving my skills, I still make a lot of mistakes.

 The inevitable auto focus fail.

This is a cool idea, but my execution was poor, largely because of the lamp.

This is what happens when I shoot long exposures in shutter priority mode and then forget to flip back to program before I shoot something else.

Angle fail. I was trying to figure out how to get the entire roof in one shot, but clearly this wasn't the best way to accomplish it.

I took this shot during my winter antiques store excursion. I don't even know. The striped glasses are cute, but this shot is so boring.

There were lots of fish swimming in the water right around the Hoover Dam, which we visited during our recent Vegas trip. Unfortunately you can't see any of them in my pictures.

You can see mountains from the Vegas strip. Except that you can't see them in this shot. I can do a fair amount of post process correction to expose them, but this shot is still pretty bright.

Total overexposure.

This shot would have been kind of neat if the words weren't upside down.

Weird angle. Who wants to look at dirty snow anyway?

Don't be afraid to share your outtakes every once in a while. It makes everyone feel better.
