the Grant Park beach in the summer

If you've been following my blog for a while, you know that one of my favorite places in Milwaukee is Grant Park. It looks great in every season, and summer is no exception. On this particular trip, I was planning to stick to the trails in the forest, but they're under construction (repaving work) this summer so I ended up on the beach. Not too much of a sacrifice.

Have you been frequenting any favorite places in your area this summer?

Doctor's Park in the spring

Doctor's Park is one of the most beautiful spots in Milwaukee. I don't know how I've only featured it on the blog once before. One of Jake's fellow residents bought his first DSLR this winter. He's moving to Montana in a couple months for a job, and Jake and I have been taking him to some of my favorite places to take pictures in Milwaukee before he moves. We visited Doctor's Park a couple weeks ago.

How is spring going your way? Is anyone else excited to see lots of green?

a short trip to Racine

Of course it wouldn't be a trip to Racine without a stop for kringle. I went to O&H for this kringle. You can read more about kringle and its history in Racine over here.

Kenosha's Southport Park

A couple weekends ago I was down in Kenosha, truthfully primary to go shopping at the Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets, home of my favorite LOFT Outlet in the world. While I was down that way, I checked out the new to me Southport Park. It's further south than I usually venture, even when I'm as far south as Kenosha. While it's nothing special, it's always neat to check out a new corner of the world.

Grant Park in the fog

It's not uncommon to get fog in Milwaukee, especially close to the lake. But it's rare that it sticks around for more than a couple hours in the morning. I actually only have one other set of fog photos, which I took last summer. Today I'm sharing a new perspective of the frequently featured Grant Park from a particularly foggy day last week. Spring in Milwaukee at its best. Enjoy.

I know that it looks like I blew out the falls when I took this picture, but that's how they look right now. The water level is high and the current is really moving.

A few fisherman at the end of the pier.

On my way out of the park, I had to get a few shots of the trees in the fog. The scene is naturally almost black and white. I did very little editing to these two tree shots.

Do you get a lot of fog in your area?

early March in Milwaukee

This past week brought above freezing temperatures. It may look like winter in this pictures, but it feels much more like spring. Over the weekend I took Jake and a friend to one of my favorite places in Milwaukee to enjoy this refreshing change in the weather and of course take some pictures.

How's early March going your way?
