A is for Art Museum

Are you ready for another round of Alphabe Thursday? Let's go!

Yep, we're going again! If you've always thought about doing Alphabe Thursday, this is a great time to start participating.

I'm starting off simple with a classic: the Milwaukee Art Museum. I've featured it in previous Alphabe Thursday posts for the letter A. (See the orange statue across from it? I also featured it for the letter C in the last round.) The Art Museum is a Milwaukee institution, and it never gets old. I took these pictures back in September. Enjoy.

A is for Art Museum

Are you ready for the next installment of Alphabe Thursday? Let's go!

We're starting a brand new round of Alphabe Thursday today. If you've been thinking about participating this time, it's not too late!

For this installment, sometimes I'll be sharing brand new topics. Other times I'll be revisiting favorite topics. This is one of those weeks where I'm revisiting. The Milwaukee Art Museum is one of the most photographed places in the city, but it's not hard to understand why. I'm sharing a set of museum pictures that I took back in September. Enjoy.

A is for Art Museum

A new round of Alphabe Thursday is starting up this week, and I'm playing along this time! I've been ready to switch things up and participate in a new weekly link up for a few months now, and this seemed like a good a time as ever to make it happen. I've been brainstorming letter ideas and with maybe one or two exceptions, will be using these posts exclusively to share my photography. I hope that you enjoy.

I'm kicking things off today for the letter A with one of the classic photography spots in Milwaukee: the art museum.

the art museum at night

I posted pictures of the Milwaukee Art Museum recently, but I was back there again at the end of last month. At night. Taking more pictures. I have featured pictures of the museum during MAM After Dark events before, but this was the first time I got to take pictures of the museum at night with my SLR. While I was looking through my old posts with museum pictures, I found this little post that I wrote about Milwaukee right after Match Day. Just thought I'd share that before I got to the pictures. Enjoy.

I didn't notice the NCAA in the Northwestern Mutual building until I was editing this set of pictures. Marquette University's (which is right down the street from the art museum) men's basketball team made it to the tournament this year.

The original photo has a very cool green and red color theme, but I decided to experiment with a monochromatic palette.

Have you been taking pictures at night lately? Is anyone else slightly irritated to be taking pictures with snow still in them in late March / early April?

Milwaukee Art Museum: final winter 2013 visit

I have been a little slow editing my most recent photos, but I have a couple new sets that I'm really excited to share here. This is the smaller of the two from a couple weekends back. While my parents were visiting Milwaukee, we went to the Color Rush exhibit at the Milwaukee Art Museum. I got a few exterior shots of the museum earlier this winter, but this was my first time photographing the interior with my SLR. Enjoy.

I think that there needs to be a little story that goes with this couple.

I can't believe that I didn't have a picture of the Chihuly sculpture yet.

Mark Glatzel, the piano player from I'm Not a Pilot, just happened to be playing acoustic piano while we were at the museum.

I've really been enjoying photographing reflections lately.

I know that everyone has this shot. But now I do, too.

I ran this through a couple of filters.
