Friday Feature: black and silver

This Friday Feature is in honor of a couple of my newest jewelry shop items. Do you remember when I floated the idea of black and silver celestial pieces? A lot of people were on board with that idea so I went with it.

(Blue and purple sets are in stock right now, too. If you've been thinking about picking up any of these pieces, I'd highly recommend doing it before the holidays so you don't end up with a made to order wait.)

I've found some other black and silver fashion pieces that you could rock with these of these celestial items. Enjoy.

Do you ever wear or work with the black and silver combination?

Friday Feature: celestial items

Thanks so much to everyone who linked up with me this past week for my Friday Feature link up!  Here are just a few of the great finds that were featured.  Click on the photos to check out the item listings, blog posts, etc.

I got my blue celestial bracelet and earrings back in stock this week.  This is one of my most popular designs, and I decided to theme a Friday Feature around it.  Enjoy!

another edition of why I love my customers

Some of my best creations and favorite orders have been customer suggestions that I never would have come up with on my own.  My most recent custom order is no exception.

I posted this bracelet when I first put it on sale.

Grace of Dragon's Alley left me a comment, remarking that she'd always wanted to see this in purple.  After a series of e-mails, we settled on a set of beads that she liked, and I got to work.  This is the result.

Grace is really happy with it, which is awesome.  I enjoyed working with the purple and decided to make another purple version to list on Etsy.  Grace wanted to toggle clasp, but I went back to the lobster clasp, which is my standard clasp for charm bracelets.  This type of customization is very easy so don't ever be afraid to ask for something like this.

I also used a mix of purples seed beads beads in two different sizes.  It took me a couple tries to get a mix that I liked.  Too many magenta shades make the darkest purples look almost black, even in person.

It's available here.  I'm really happy with the final result.  I never would have used purple with the stars and moons, but it turned out so well.  Thanks Grace!  I still have enough star and moon charms left from this set to make one more version so if you're also interested in a different color combination, let me know.

celestial

Another wonderful treasury feature!  TheTeddyBearShop included my Beaded Bracelet - Silver Links - Celestial in her The moon and the stars...were the gifts you gave treasury.  I am wowed by how much attention this little piece has gotten since I took new pictures of the latest version!  And I never get tired of this theme.  Gorgeous collection.

inspiring art

One of the EtsyBlogger Blog Carnival topics for this month is: Show me your all time favorite piece of art and why you find it inspiring. I don't have a single favorite piece of art, but one of my favorites is one of the classics: Starry Night by Van Gogh.

I did a cross-stitch version of it a few years ago.
I've completed 5 counted cross-stitch kits in my life, and this one was definitely the most difficult. It was well worth it, though!

I saw this neat Starry Night bench in the fine arts building on my undergrad campus when I was visiting it last summer.

I can contribute a lot of the appeal of this painting for me to one of my first cats who was all black and named Sky, short for Night Sky. I've always had a soft spot for things related to the night sky because of her. I also enjoy clouds a lot so I'm generally drawn to sky imagery.

I made a dark blue stars and moons bracelet a couple years ago that I traded to someone back in September.
I have one like it in my personal collection, too. The bracelet above inspired the random bracelet below - silver links celestial bracelet - that is currently available in my shop.
I don't have any other specific plans for starry night/celestial themed jewelry right now, but I'm sure that it's a theme that I'll continue to revisit in the future.

more fun with the celestial theme

I totally forgot that I bookmarked a few other celestial charm bracelets to share when I listed my own silver links celestial bracelet. This actually works out perfectly with the bright full moon last night. I hope that everyone had a chance to see it!

blog feature, new listing, latest blogging goodies

Shirley (funnysky) featured me on her blog yesterday! You can still check it out by clicking here. Thanks again, Shirley, for featuring me and thank you to everyone who has already commented on it!

I listed my newest random bracelet today. I have had this idea and all of the materials for it for quite a while, but it finally came together this month.

As some of you probably already know, I really like celestial themed items. Growing up, I had a black cat named Sky (short for Night Sky), and the theme has always stuck with me.

I got my newest blogging goodies in the mail this week. These are all from the Art Beads's Valentine's Day section.

My new stash includes lots of Czech glass hearts and four different delicas, three of which I've never had before. I'm going to include all of the neutral shade items in my neutral square stitch embellished bracelet. I have plans for a few of the other items, too, but not all of them (yet anyway).

Disclosure - I received my ArtBead's products free of charge through their blogging program. I am honestly reviewing their products and have not been paid for my endorsement as it pertains to the products I received.
