O is for Other People

Are you ready for another round of Alphabe Thursday? Let's go!

Even a couple years ago, I never would have imagined that I'd enjoy taking pictures of what I've started to refer to as "other people" so much. There are a lot of occasions where I'm out taking pictures by myself or with a friend and simply enjoy documenting some of the people I see during the experience. There are other occasions where I'm with a group of family members and/or friends, and it can be more fun to take pictures of people I don't know than bother the people I do know by taking their pictures constantly.

I think that this type of picture taking also appeals to the writer in me. I've never made up a story based on random people that I photographed (and probably won't any time soon), but I still like to think about the stories that I could tell about them.

photo share: local band

Last week I cheated again and edited a newer set of RAW photos, largely because I wanted to post some of them here sooner rather than later. I could have just edited a handful of them, but I edited the whole set. Many of you have already heard me talk about one of my favorite bands, I'm Not a Pilot, over and over again the past 8 months. Jake and I got to hear them live a number of times this summer, and I took photos at several of these concerts. One of the most interesting aspects of these shows has been the audiences. I've been really surprised at the variety. This particular concert was swarming with kids and young parents. If you're curious about how I got so close to all of these kids I don't know, there were literally dozens of them running around everywhere for the whole hour and a half of music. Enjoy.

Have you been going to any concerts this summer?

a summer tradition: The Bristol Renaissance Faire

Jake and I have been attending the Bristol Renaissance Faire for many new years now. It was one of the first things we ever did together as a couple and every year there just seems to get better and better. You can check out photos from my 2011 and 2012 trips if you're interested. Of course this was the first year I was there with an SLR so I was even more excited than usual. I still have a lot of photo editing to do (story of my life this summer, which is a good problem), but here are a few of my favorites. Enjoy.

Does anyone else attend a renaissance fair every year? Share your stories and photos!
