at the Michell Park Domes with the 100mm

As I mentioned last month, I have the opportunity to borrow a 100mm Canon lens for free this summer. I've been primarily interested in a macro lens for my product photography. In the past few weeks, I've already confirmed that it makes a huge difference when I'm photographing jewelry in my light box. While I'm borrowing this lens, I'm also making an effort to get out and photograph with it during little excursions around Milwaukee to determine how much other use I would get out of owning said lens. Last Monday Jake and I went to the Mitchell Park Domes, which was a great place to work with it.

regrouping and some spring yard photos

So I unintentionally took a week off of blogging at the beginning this month. It's the first time that I've taken a week off from this blog since I started it back in late 2008, which is nothing short of a miracle. Then I took another week off to get back into a scheduling posts routine so that I wouldn't be scrambling to get back on track. I could have pushed to get right back into it, but I just didn't feel like doing that to myself at this point. And here we are. I'm starting off simple with some pictures that I took of spring right in my own yard earlier this month. Enjoy.

T is for Tree Bark

Are you ready for another round of Alphabe Thursday? Let's go!

This is one of those themes that I keep revisiting unintentionally during many of my photo wanderings. Something about the texture and the possibilities for the depth of field really appeals to me. Enjoy.

photo share: Mitchell Park Domes Conservatory

Right before I went to Vegas last month, I went to the Michell Park Domes. I still have some winter pictures to edit, but I know that we all need to see some green this time of year. Enjoy.

N is for Never Gets Old

Are you ready for another round of Alphabe Thursday? Let's go!

We all have subjects (i.e. pets, kids, flowers) or themes (i.e. reflections, leading lines)  that we find ourselves photographing over and over again. I am well aware of many of the things that I keep photographing. However, sometimes new favorite subjects and themes come about unconsciously, too. As I was going through my 2013 photos back in December, I found this view. Over and over again. Clearly it never gets old for me.
