the arrival of the gods

Happy New Year's Eve!

We're taking a break from the Scavenger Hunt this week for the holidays. As I normally reserve Mondays here for the hunt, this seemed like a good opportunity to break some huge news.

Jake and I adopted these two little brothers from the Wisconsin Humane Society a little over a week ago. We've named them Apollo (left) and Ares (right). This is something that we've wanted to do for...a long time. The specific amount of time really isn't important. It didn't seem justifiable with our schedules and living space for many years. We've also been nervous about Angel's reaction, as she's always been the only cat in the house. But we've had a couple offers for slightly older kitties in the past few months (that we did not take because we thought that Angel would acclimate better with babies), and it seemed like a sign to finally take the plunge.

The brothers are already fast friends and have taken amazingly well to a new environment and introductions to a lot of new people the past week. I know that they will be warmly welcomed here, too. Angel has also done amazingly well, all things considered. Change is always tough, but she is quite good at adapting to new situations.

Be safe tonight and come back tomorrow for my 2012 goal wrap up post.

Treasury Round Up - 12/30/12

It's been another great week of treasuries! Please help me thank the curators of these wonderful collections by checking out their treasuries and shops.

Cynthia (AntiquityTravelers) included my Button Charm Bracelet - Christmas - Silver Bells in her Roses, Tulips, & Poppies, Oh My! treasury. This is such a unique, bright collection for the holidays. Check out Cynthia's Carnelian Earrings: Lotus Clusters.

Sandhya (SashasJewellery) included my Beaded Bangle Bracelet - Warmth in her Winter Warmth treasury. This rich collection will warm you up in no time. Check out Sandhya's Lovely Sandstone with Agate pendant.

Linda (PruittDesign) included my 18" Sterling Silver Chain with Lobster Clasp in her Silver and Gold have I none...treasury. I know that I say this every time Linda curates a treasury, but she thinks of some of the best treasury themes. This one is no exception. Check out her ID Badge Holder necklace beaded blue lanyard handmade.

BBA Secret Santa Reveal

We had so much fun with the BBA Secret Santa in 2011 that we decided to bring it back for 2012. Once again, the deal was that we could give handmade and/or store bought gifts totaling no more than $20. Things went smoothly all around. I'm excited to share more details about how it went on my end.

I was Nancy of NFallonDesignStudio's Secret Santa. I sent her a set of my music note cards and some music gift tags.

When I make music greeting cards, I always end up with little music scraps left over. I use a lot of them to make magnets, but they worked perfectly for making gift tags, too. This was a perfect opportunity to try out my new to/from Christmas stamp.

Linda of PruittCreations was my Secret Santa. Look at what a wonderful job she did with the wrapping! It is so much more amazing than anything I will ever do in that department.

I inspired Linda to make this table runner back in March for my turquoise/red challenge, and she wanted me to have the piece. She created it for Easter, but I think that the colors work for Christmas, too.

Linda also sent me some beads and dark chocolate. My teammates know me pretty well! Thanks for everything, Linda!

If you are not already part of the BBA, hop over to the join section of the blog and think about becoming part of our team.  We'd love to have you!
