fun with food photography

I don't do a lot of food photography, particularly in the winter. However, I got inspired to take a bunch of pictures during the prep for a recent social event that my husband and I hosted. Enjoy.

Hello, soft peaks! So excited that I did this successfully for the first time.

Pound cake in the works.

Pound cake heading into the oven.

Cream puffs in the works.

Chopping pistachios. This is definitely one of my favorite recent photographs. There is something about the angle and lighting that I really love.

My ever present kitchen helpers. This is their favorite thing to do in the pantry.

Roasted red pepper and bacon goat cheese "truffles." Recipe right here.

Finished cream puffs. Not the prettiest ever, but I'm pretty pleased with this first attempt at them. They tasted amazing, so why apologize at all, right?

How can you not love fondue forks?

Easter color preview with buttons

I'm sure that this post seems a little premature, but Easter is only two months away. Can you believe that? I don't make Easter themed jewelry (although I have plenty of pieces in my shop that are appropriate for it), but I am always trying to stay ahead of the holidays for HubPages articles. If you do make holiday jewelry or other items, it's not too early to start working on new designs! I took this series of photos for an article and thought that my readers here would get inspiration from them as well.

mix up your designs with shape buttons

keep the color palette bright

classic

mix it up with tiny buttons

add cabochons and other embellishments to your designs

create variety by incorporating metal and/or wooden buttons

What color combinations remind you of Easter? What are you creating for Easter this year?

Night Out in Milwaukee

I haven't been into the Scavenger Hunt prompts as much as usual lately, but I am still doing my best to get out and take pictures even in the winter weather and enjoy sharing some of those photos here. Last weekend Jake and I went to his holiday work party at the Milwaukee Public Museum and then out for drinks and music at the Pfister Hotel with some of his co-workers. I took some pictures throughout the evening. Enjoy.

Check out Trina's Wedding Cake Topper, Custom His and Her Cowboy Boots, Polymer Clay Wedding or Anniversary Keepsake.

Linda also came up with this great color palette: Nice Lime and Cool Turquoise for a treasury, which has my Button Bracelet - Green and Blue. I love this color combination and need to experiment with it again.
