Scavenger Hunt on Monday (12/3/12)

So...I got a DSLR this week! I ended up getting the Canon Rebel T4i. I've been holding out until Christmas, but there are a few things that I really want to photograph this coming month with it so Christmas came early. That often happens around here. I really appreciate everyone who has taken the time this past year to give me advice about upgrading to a DSLR. It was a huge help with making my final decision about a camera model as well as initial accessories to purchase. I'll be posting more about all of that in the near future. For now, I'm excited to show off some of my first pictures with my DSLR for the Scavenger Hunt this week. Enjoy!

1) Missing
What is missing from this photo? Nothing. You can't go wrong here.

2) Numbers
Jake and I are attending a wedding next month, and we ordered a frame from Edi for a gift. As always, her work is beautiful.

3) Purple
When we were putting up some of our Christmas decorations this week, I found some old purple Christmas lights. Of course I had to put them up in our purple bedroom. I think that my life is complete now.

4) Music
Does anyone else miss reading the lyrics from a CD album? It's not the same pulling them up from a random lyrics site online. (And no, I know that neither one is anything like a record liner. Yes, I am old enough to remember them.) We download most of our music now, and even when we buy a CD, it's very rare that the liner comes with much of anything. Sad. (This liner is from this album. Go check it out.)

5) Bracelet
I'm sure that it's not a surprise that I had to run a few jewelry test shots with my light box this week. There are really no words to describe how excited I am about these initial shots.

Check out Ashley's blog to see what other people submitted for the themes this week.

  8. Rose, I'm curious what camera you were using before and why you chose to upgrade. I'm thinking about maybe getting a better camera as well.. at least one that does better close up shots. I don't know much about cameras so would love your input :)

  13. the photographs are exquisite! You'll have a lot of fun with the camera, I know. DH and I buy early gifts too. I want a nice cane, but will wait a few weeks, I think, to go looking. The bracelet is a perfect subject for you - and the light box (and you) makes it so clear and sharp. Great work! {:-D
