photo share: family

I spend most of my time photographing random things around Milwaukee these days. However, one of the neat aspects of improving my photography skills the past few years has been capturing great moments with family and friends, too. Sometimes I'm too busy enjoying an event to get a lot of pictures, but I'm doing my best to make it a regular effort these days.

Some of you know that earlier this month, Jake and I made a quick trip to Chicago for my dad's 60th birthday. My brother got engaged this summer, and Jake and my brother's fiance both have birthdays the same week as my dad's birthday. It was awesome to get to celebrate so many wonderful things with so many family members and old friends.

I'm sharing a selection of family photos from the birthday party today. Enjoy.

Somehow I didn't get a color picture of my dad's shirt, but it's lime green.

Unfortunately my brother's fiance didn't get to the party until right near the end, and I didn't get any pictures of her.

My brother's band Hood Smoke played at the party.

My mom's mom is 90 years old. It's so great that she's still able to get out to these family events.

My dad's parents came up from Texas. I hadn't seen them in three years.

Amazingly Jake was not wearing one of his hats at the party, but he would have fit right in with this group.
