Live at Peck music series

I was out of town last week and forgot to schedule any posts in advance except for Caturday. Many apologies. Also, I know that my blog has been really heavy on the photo posts this summer. The short of it is that it really is an accurate reflection of what's going on with my creativity. I hope to mix things up here more at some point, but I'm not going to force what isn't happening.

Among many other concerts this summer, I've been attending the Live at Peck Friday lunchtime music series. (Jake and I also made it to their screening of Back to the Future, which needless to say, was a lot of fun.) There is nothing better than outdoor live music in the summer, especially when it's free and really close to my house.

Have you been taking in any concerts this summer, outside or otherwise?

the Grant Park beach in the summer

If you've been following my blog for a while, you know that one of my favorite places in Milwaukee is Grant Park. It looks great in every season, and summer is no exception. On this particular trip, I was planning to stick to the trails in the forest, but they're under construction (repaving work) this summer so I ended up on the beach. Not too much of a sacrifice.

Have you been frequenting any favorite places in your area this summer?

summer at the Milwaukee County Zoo

It wouldn't be a summer in Milwaukee without a few trips to the zoo.

What are some of your quintessential summer activities?

Milwaukee's Three Bridges Park

During my recent trip to the Mitchell Park Domes (see Tuesday's post), I visited the eastern edge of Three Bridges Park, which is right behind the conservatory. The park really does have three bridges, but all of these pictures are of the far eastern bridge, again, right behind the Domes.

You can learn more about Three Bridges Park at Renew the Valley and Menomonee Valley From the Ground Up.

4th of July Boat Ride

Jake's birthday is July 3, which means that many years we end up doing something over the 4th of July holiday with family and friends to celebrate both his birthday and Independence Day. This year is the big 3-0 so we're actually doing multiple birthday events throughout week, which included an Edelweiss Cruise along the Milwaukee River on July 4th. The big downtown fireworks show is on July 3 so we avoided those crowds and still had plenty of time to get to a fireworks show in the suburbs that night.

A boat tour is such a fun way to enjoy your city, even if it's a place that you've lived for years. If you live in Milwaukee or are ever visiting the area, put it on your list of things to do.
