Milwaukee's Three Bridges Park

During my recent trip to the Mitchell Park Domes (see Tuesday's post), I visited the eastern edge of Three Bridges Park, which is right behind the conservatory. The park really does have three bridges, but all of these pictures are of the far eastern bridge, again, right behind the Domes.

a foggy weekend in Milwaukee

We had an exceptionally foggy weekend in Milwaukee. It is not unusual to see fog downtown, due to its proximity to Lake Michigan. However, it's rare to see it stick around for the better part of two days. In three years of living here, this is the first time I've ever photographed the fog, and I'm sharing it with you today.

N is for (Urban) Nature

Newsflash: I joined Instagram last week! I know that some of you are already following me, which is great. If you're not yet, head over there and follow.

Now onto our regular programing...
Are you ready for another round of Alphabe Thursday? Let's go!

One of the many things that I love about living in Milwaukee is that I only have to drive five or ten miles to feel like I'm completely out of the city. While I love living in an area with lots of restaurants, stores, looming architecture, and city roads, I also love being right near Lake Michigan, beaches, woods, and trails.

Today I'm sharing just a few of my favorite urban nature shots from Milwaukee. Enjoy.

I love to post at least one older photo in these Alphabe posts. This shot is from my first excursion to Klode Park. It quickly became one of my favorite spots in the city.

first SLR shoot in Chicago

Last weekend Jake and I went to Chicago because he was attending a workshop. Of course I wasn't going to pass up this opportunity to take pictures. I'm sure that it's not a surprise that I love photographing cities and was excited to use my Rebel for the first time there. Here are just a few of my photo highlights. Enjoy.

While Jake was at his workshop on Saturday, I spent most of the day with my mom and one of my uncles. One of the first things that we did downtown was check out a photography exhibit at Columbia by this photographer. Go check her out. You won't be disappointed.

My uncle.

My uncle took these last two pictures at Dominican University, which is where Jake got his undergrad degree. Do you remember this Dominican frame that we got over the summer? Most of my pictures from Dominican are from 2007 or earlier, and I really wanted something more current for it. But we don't get down that way very often these days. Lately when I hand my camera to someone else, the pictures we get of us as a couple are...not frame worthy (I'm being nice) so it was amazing to have this opportunity.

Now I just have to get it printed! But we're one more step of the way there at least.
