a summer tradition: The Bristol Renaissance Faire

Jake and I have been attending the Bristol Renaissance Faire for many new years now. It was one of the first things we ever did together as a couple and every year there just seems to get better and better. You can check out photos from my 2011 and 2012 trips if you're interested. Of course this was the first year I was there with an SLR so I was even more excited than usual. I still have a lot of photo editing to do (story of my life this summer, which is a good problem), but here are a few of my favorites. Enjoy.

Does anyone else attend a renaissance fair every year? Share your stories and photos!

  1. So fun seeing everyone in their costumes! I love the photo of the man working with the torch!

  2. It looks really cool and seems to have taken more a turn for the steam punk than I'd imagined. I really wish I could do arial silks. I've done some lyra (hoop), but not silks. Yet. I've actually never been to a RenFaire, but I did used to participate in a live action role playing game. Yeah...I'm that person... It was sort of like SCA, only we used foam weapons instead of rattan or live steel.

  5. Looks like a fun time! We used to go to the Renaissance Faire in CO but haven't been to the one out here. I always feel like a fish out of water but yet I feel that way going to Eugene! (Don't tell Cynthia!)

  7. What interesting photos (and people)! Taking photos this way is like listening in on conversations you're not supposed to hear, but do because you are simply there.

  8. Ha, I like the shot where all three people have their arms crossed. I went to the faire once in college and it was great for people-watching. Lots of cool costumes!

  9. I'm sure there must be one in the Portland area, I just don't know about it.
