in the works: buttons

I stocked up on buttons right after Christmas and am really excited about all of the button ideas that I have for 2013.

I have a few popular button designs that I have never successfully kept in stock for more than a few weeks. I'm determined to change that this year.

I have developed a signature multicolored dangle button earring that I can easily replicate for Etsy, eliminating the need to take lots of pictures of variations of it. However, I'm creating some other options for shows. We'll see how they do. I may eventually develop another signature design or two to list online.

It's easy for me to get into a rut of re-creating best selling button designs and not think about creating new designs. I want to keep the best sellers in stock, but I don't want to get into a creative rut either. I'm planning to do a lot of expansion for my successful button lines this year.

Do you remember the custom color gradation pieces I did last year? I've been itching to make a few more of these ever since I did that order. I have more blue buttons than any other color so it was an easy place to start. This piece is listed online, and I'm hoping to make more in other palettes over the next year.

  1. YES I remember the gradation pieces! I'm so glad you're bringing them back.

I know what you mean about finding time to make orders *and* design new pieces. I'm horrible at it. I usually go a couple of months in between new items, and one shop always gets the shaft. Right now I haven't done anything new for LWC since... maybe October? I'm not even sure! (Shame on me.)

  3. I've always loved your multi-colored button designs! Great idea to make the same color combos so you don't have to reshoot the pics. Speaking of pics...these look awesome! Your new camera was a wise investment :)
You might consider adding Ombre to your tags on the blue bracelet...a popular trend lately that this would fit in well with.

  7. Being able to create the same design would be a time saver and I'm sure the more you do of them the less time it takes to do each one

  11. great idea about signature pieces. I never did that when making jewelry. Nice thing about that: they are always going to be unique! I can see why the gradation bracelet and earrings are so popular. They're lovely! Like the tins that the buttons are in. Do they arrive like that? {:-D

  15. I love the idea of one color in different gradations. Maybe you can do the same thing with your dagger bracelet, or one of the others?
