winter at the beach in Milwaukee

We reached a record high temperature of 59 degrees in Milwaukee on Tuesday, January 29. There was no way that I was going to pass up that opportunity for photography. I headed to one of my favorite destinations in Milwaukee for a little lunch hour shoot of sorts. Enjoy.

There is something surreal about wearing winter boots at the beach. If you've never done this before, I recommend trying it sometime.

Do you ever go to the beach in the winter?

  6. Hi, I wanted to stop by since you left such a nice comment on my blog. And now I'm dying b/c although I live in San Diego, I lived in Whitefish Bay during high school! My husband did as well and his parents' house was about two minutes away from Klode. I recognized it right away!!

    Beautiful pictures!!

  10. These are beautiful photos.. as always. I love how you zone in on the details in some of the close up ones. I bet it really is weird wearing winter boots on a beach, now that I think about it! Of course, being on a beach period is surreal for me. I so wished lived closer to a real beach. We have lakes here but nothing like Lake Michigan. Thanks so much for sharing :)

  11. Beautiful shots! You are putting your new camera to good use! I especially like the closeups of the branches and barks -- and the view of the shoreline with the tree branches as a frame.

  13. These are all such great "mood" shots. I like how you captured the jaggedness of the snowy shoreline as it meets the water. I can feel the cold!

  14. Another moody collection! I love it. The picture of the snow overhanging the water kind of looks like a glacier (but obviously we don't have those in the midwest).

  15. Wow, I would love to go to the beach in the winter! I live about an hour from the ocean right now, & not liking to be in the car, I wouldn't... but even when I lived 1 mile from the beach I never did it, don't know why! Of course, now that I can't... I wish I could. Maybe I will have to take a drive one of these days. Thanks for the pictures, these are great.
