photo share: Solvay Coke

Today I'm sharing photos from one of my recent photo excursions in Milwaukee that included going to the Solvay Coke & Gas Site. You can read about this site on the EPA website here or on American Urbex here. There are also numerous photos of it on Flickr. It's thanks to those kind of photos that fellow photographers and I keep discovering new places and subjects to photograph. This was an amazing experience, and I'm glad to share just a little bit of here with others. Enjoy.

  2. Those are great photos, Rose! I think it might be a bit scary to walk around there, especially looking at that last photo...

  3. I like the nails and the rusty screws. Those are the kind of pictures I have always taken and in the days of film my mom would ask why I was wasting my money:)

  4. I hope you're going to make this kind of spread a regular feature! These are great, especially the rusty nails. (Which is not something I ever thought I'd say.)

  7. These are awesome, Rose! They convey a certain "grungy" atmosphere, which I think is totally cool :)

  9. I feel so badly for that large space in the last photo. What a great gallery it would have made... Like your photo with the reflection of the water. Very cool! {:-D

  10. Interesting collection of photos. There is something intriguing about old spaces, and you have done a great job of capturing the space from today's viewpoint.

  11. Interesting post here as well. I just came via your post today. I didn't notice the smurf artwork and I rather enjoyed your full color photo of that room a bit better!
