color combination inspiration revisited

I got a lot of awesome color combination suggestions last week in response to my favorite inspiration challenge post.  Thank you!  I thought that it would be fun to find some examples with these color combinations to provide further inspiration.  I've done my best to include a variety of items/examples, as one of the best ways to take inspiration from color is to look for potential combinations everywhere.  Enjoy. :)

Purple/Yellow/Silver from Grace

Blue/Brown from Paige (brown isn't one of the color choices)

In case you don't have enough to work with already, check this out.

What other color combinations do you like and/or what combinations would you to like to experiment with more in the future?  This could be a fun semi-regular feature.

  2. Yes to yellow and grey. I wanted to have the trim in my new place painted silver/grey to go with the banana cream walls but nixed idea when I saw a "sample" - didn't look as good as it sounded. The bright white trim makes the soft yellow pop even more.

  5. I love how vibrant these all are! My favorite has got to be "Dark Green/Mauve from Linda". Another combo I'm not tired of is turquoise and red - looks retro & modern at the same time.

  6. Nice finds to go with the combinations. Honestly I would not have put orange with blue but it does pop and force me to think beyond my normal parameters.

  8. You know that the teal and pink one is my favorite :)
But I've also worked with purple and brown quite a bit in my albums. And I had a request for yellow, gray and pink and really like how it turned out as well!

  13. Oh, this is so inspiring! I love the yellow & gray as well as the dark green & mauve.

I also love bright (but perhaps blinding if done too strongly) combinations like: lime green, tangerine & hot pink. or bright red, apple green, and a bright purple.

earth tones are always nice, too - leafy greens with dark chocolate browns. this tool is a lot of fun for color inspiration: http://www.colorschemedesigner.com/
