Favorite Inspiration: the May BBA Challenge

Sharla of BeadedTail came up with our May Challenge: Inspirations.  She writes, "Your challenge is to incorporate your favorite inspiration into a project of your choice."  I'm sure it's not a surprise that I'm frequently inspired my color.  I'll see neat color combinations anywhere...in a clothing store, in nature, etc., and I'll immediately start thinking about how I can incorporate them into art.

Most of you already know how much I love turquoise and red.  I also really love pink and green.  Pink is not one of my favorite colors, but I love it paired with green.  Here are a few ways that I've used this color combination in my jewelry making in the past.

For the most part, when I write craft articles, I pull ideas from lots of different sources.  I do use my own photos as I can, but I often use photos from others, too.  After I wrote my junk mail crafts article, I started thinking about other recycled papers to use for crafting.  I was in the middle of doing a big magazine purge and decided it was well time to create my own art for an article and to use my own photos exclusively in the article.  The pink and green color combination seemed like a good fit for graduation, Mother's Day, and spring cards.

I'm really happy with how both the cards and the article.  My recycled craft articles have done well so far.  Hopefully this one will, too.

Do you ever use the green and pink color combination in your crafting?  What are some of your favorite color combinations?

  1. I like light pink and pale green for baby albums and hot pink and lime green for friend albums :)

  2. I'm all about purple and yellow and silver...While I love your dagger bracelets and that pink and green one is lovely, those are two colors I will never wear or decorate with...tho I am learning to like light green accents - not that I have any in my house or clothing. Of course there are emeralds - the one green thing I covet!

  3. I do have one pair of pink and green rhinestone earrings, but that's it. I'm not a pink person either, so I just tend to use other colors.

I really like blue and brown together, and I've been getting into yellow and gray but I don't use that one as much for my biz. That tends to show up in my house.

  4. It's so fun for me to hear how people find their inspiration so I'm glad you did this challenge! I haven't really paid correlated color combinations in a store to my jewelry but what a great idea! I like your use of pink and green too. I like purple and brown but actually I like anything with purple.

  7. Oh, I do love pink & green. Such a fun combination. I use it sometimes when I am feeling colorful, most noticeably you can see the combo on my flamingo bookmark :)

I also really love complimentary schemes like blue & orange lately. Teal & pink is also fun. Colors are so inspiring!

  10. I am very inspired by color, and so many combinations please me. If we're talking personally, my favorite combination to wear would be blue and green.
I do like the combination of pink and green. When I was a child I made my own invitations for a birthday party. They read "come to my pink party" or something like that. I drew pink flowers with green stems and leaves with crayons.
