This customer is a teacher, and she wanted a set of jewelry in her school's colors. Do you remember this charm bracelet? I still have a bunch of those maroon buttons, which worked out perfectly for this order. I love the addition of the gray, silver, black, and white.
I created a second set that I now have listed in my shop. Sometimes I get stuck in a rut with the color combinations for a certain line in my shop without even realizing. I keep creating new versions with those same combinations without taking the time to experiment with something new. Getting the inspiration for a new button set was much needed.
This was also a great excuse to make a new set of button dangle earrings. I have never been able to keep these in stock for very long because they are so popular. I'm determined to have a whole bunch of new pairs ready for my fall shows this year.
This past year I started branching out with my photography because I felt like my product photography was stagnating, and I really needed to mix up the routine. I am thrilled to report that all of my photography work elsewhere has improved my product photography. I am really happy with some of these new shots and feel like they're at a new level from what I was shooting even a few months ago.
Have you been working on any neat custom orders recently?
That's a beautiful jewelry set and a lovely harmonious colour combination :) I love that last photo!
ReplyDeleteGreat color combo! I tend to stick with the same colors time and time again too.
ReplyDeleteI bet your button earrings will do great at your shows. They're very eye catching and so fun!
Those are so fabulous. How cool to get jewelry in her school colors. What a great idea.
ReplyDeleteI love that color combo! I am currently working on a custom pet portrait - which is always one of my favorite custom orders :)
ReplyDeleteIt's nice that you could accomodate your customers color combo neeeds and learn some new thing too! I love the last photo. Great!
ReplyDeleteyes, practice makes perfect - like everything else. Love the gray addition to the red jewelry. And getting close enough to see that the buttons are all different is a great asset to the jewelry photography. It's amazing all the buttons you have! Love it! {:-D

ReplyDeleteCute! Isn't it great to have a product that you're always out of stock of?? How cool!
ReplyDeleteI love how customers think up color combinations that I never would! The bracelet and earrings are lovely! Your photos are too!
ReplyDeleteI do love those colors together. It is nice to have something in your shop that sells out quickly.
ReplyDeleteI love custom orders! I do a lot of them for my wedding shop, and I've started getting a handful for my "secondary" shop, too. It's so flattering when somebody trusts you to design something for them.
ReplyDeleteThe very last picture of the button earrings is awesome, by the way.
I can see how it would be easy to fall in to a rut with the colors because from my own experience when I make something I go with colors I like and not necssarily what someone else likes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful set! Great color combination. I know what you mean about getting stuck in a color rut, that's why I love your color combination inspiration posts.
