Scavenger Hunt and I Heart Macro on Monday (8/27/12)

Welcome to another edition of the photo Scavenger Hunt and I Heart Macro!  Enjoy!

1) School

This is one of the schools in our neighborhood. Our theory is that they saved this piece from a previous school building or property and preserved it in this arch. I love the detail shot, but I wanted to include the full shot so you can get a little more context.

2) Rule of Thirds
This is another shot that I took at Lake Michigan in Kenosha on Sunday. I'll be honest: the rule of thirds does not come naturally for me. At all. But I'm working on it.

3) Side Profile
The event that we went to on Sunday was an Eagle Scout ceremony. I'm sure that most of you don't know that Jake is an Eagle scout, which is why he was participating here.

4) Small
This is another shot from my Chicago excursion last week.

I'm also using this as my photo for I Heart Macro this week.

5) Motion
Here is a final shot of Lake Michigan from Kenosha. I don't think that I would ever get tired of looking at this view.

Check out Ashley's blog to see what other people submitted for the themes this week.

Here's your weekly dose of Angel this week. I love how she'll hide her face with one of her paws.

The Monthly Photo Challenge Update:
Check out how my progress is going with the monthly photo challenge: August Photo A Day Challenge. We were gone most of the weekend so I haven't added as much as I usually would, but I'll catch up again this week. I still have a few new pictures up there.

  7. The arch at the school is beautiful. So much detail. I try to remember about the rule of thirds when I'm taking pictures but often I'm in too much of a hurry and don't take the time to set it up right. I do a lot of cropping afterwards to fix that....lol

  13. love that arch! It's beautiful! When I think of the rule of three, I usually apply it to planting (flowers, trees, etc.) and colors in my art journal! And I love the motion of the water at the marina! Congrats to Jake - I remember you saying something about this, I think it was last week? Super great job on your scavenger hunt! {:-D

  14. The arch is beautiful -- I love the detail of old buildings; it's great that this one was preserved. And your last shot -- I felt like I was on one of those boats with the water lapping on the side...
